Hackathons are exciting tech events hosted internally at many tech companies to release creative potential.
A place to unleash your creativity, taking amazing ideas and making them a reality. Building teams to go into a sprint to produce prototypes and pitch new ideas and builds. Successful teams have the opportunity to see their ideas and tests be made real within the business. When I was briefed I wanted to know what was at the heart of the event. I was told hackathons are about having no boundaries, it’s a place to unleash your creativity and concepts without restrictions. I set out with the same approach. How can we translate the excitement, energy and sense of team that comes with exploring the unknown. The response was to create a theme that captured those feelings and built a sense of scale and energy to the business.
Expanse
to promote the event and build excitement, I created a bespoke trailer.
dropping it in the slack channels as a Youtube link to track metrics of engagement. With the epic feeling of a triple A game or blockbuster. Asking pilots to build a crew to journey to new horizons.
Custom designs were made for zoom backgrounds. One for crew members and one for Captains. A simple visual cue on larger teams to know who is the leader, as well as a badge of honor for those taking up the mantle.
